I think what Dickinson means is that she does not have much respect for the man who wastes his time trying to become famous instead of using his time more wisely and doing something more sensible. I used the picture of Martin Luther King Jr. because I see him as a man who did not do what he did to get fame, he did it because he had a dream that the world would be a better place. Martin Luther King Jr. didn't squander life for fame, he, living, made a name.
